Children need protection, support and care at each stage of childhood, to live, learn and grow without fear of violence, abuse, neglect, exploitation and discrimination. It is their fundamental right. Over four decades, ChildFund Sri Lanka is working with partners, governments and various stakeholders in creating the safe environments children need to thrive. Our programs create sustainable change in communities across the country impacting the lives of nearly 400,000 children, youth and their family members each year. Comprehensive life-stage approach: (Age 0-5 years: Healthy & Secure; Age 6-14 years: Educated & Confident; Age 15-24 years: Skilled & Involved) has created meaningful contributions to the health, education, safety and skills of children and youth, in Sri Lanka. With our new organizational strategy, Growing Connections 2030, we look towards a future where we will not only create impact with more children and families than ever before, but we will do so through expanded partnerships and deeper relationships. The current crisis in Sri Lanka has created the conditions for increased vulnerability, poverty, and destitution among a significant proportion of the population. It has put children at a higher risk. They are more susceptible to malnutrition, abuse, exploitation and lack of access to education. Youth experiences uncertainty regarding their future. Children with disabilities are at greater risk. It is more urgent than ever to rise to the challenges together — so that children can face the challenges ahead of them in a better manner. Our mission is to help deprived, excluded and vulnerable children to have the capacity to improve their lives and the opportunity to become young adults, parents and leaders who bring lasting and positive change in their communities.
